Deciding what type of system to install in your home is a big decision, and it can be difficult. With the recent changes in the HVAC industry, homeowners have become even more confused. The homeowner has a lot of decisions to make for their system, such as what type, what SEER, what size and which brand. Energy Efficiency. All A/C systems are rated in SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio). All gas furnaces are rated in AFUE.
 

Size of Equipment. You should only have your system sized by licensed mechanical contractors or a licensed engineer.
 
Type of Refrigerant. As of 1/1/10 all HVAC equipment will contain the new R -410a refrigerant it is an HFC and does not harm the Ozone layer.
 
Brand. There are many different brands to choose from, and you may ask yourself, “What is the best unit on the market?"
